The project, "Corn as Intercrop to Pineapple" was conducted at Limbon, Indang, Cavite from October, 1987 to January, 1988. It aimed to determine the possibility and profitability of growing corn as intercrop to pineapple. It further aimed to develop skills and abilities of farmers on growing corn. An existing pineapple plantation was used as project site. Complete fertilizer at the rate of 200 kilograms per hectare was basally applied on the area. Corn seeds were sown in between pineapple plants distanced at 75 centimeters apart. Seeds were found viable. A hundred percent germination was observed five days after sowing. The plants were harvested four months after planting. The marketable fresh corn ears were brought to the nearest market. The gross income of P1, 300.00 provided a net income of Y3390.00 after the total cost of production was deducted. The growth of pineapple plants was observed to be satisfactory.
