The farm practice was conducted at the experimental field of Don Severino Agricultural College from May to September, 1990, to develop skills in managing production project and to increase farm income through intercropping practices. A 1,500 square meter lot was plowed and harrowed two times at an interval of seven days for every operation, to allow weed seeds to germinate. Furrows were made for corn to be planted. Furrows with a distance of 75 centimeters were made after the final harrowing. Corn was planted with a distance of 75 centimeters between furrows and 25 centimeters between hills. Pole snap beans were relay planted when corn plants are on its flowering stage at the distance of 75 centimeters between furrows and 25 centimeters between the hills. Corn were harvested purposely for boiling while pole snap beans were harvested ten times at its succulent stage. The total gross sales from the project amounted to P41750.00. After deducting the total expenses, the project obtained a net income of P 2,619.05 giving a return of Investment at 122.90%.
