This farm practice activity was conducted at Banaba Cerca, Indang, Cavite from August 29 to December 27, 1990. Three piglets averaging 15 kgs were used in this study to determine the profitability of raising growing-fattening hogs and to gain knowledge and experience through actual field work. In the four months of feeding period, a total of 500 kg feeds was consumed by the hogs with an average of 167 kilograms. They had a total gain in weight of 138 kg with an average of 46 kg. The hogs exhibit an average feed efficiency of 3.623. Hogs were disposed in Indang market on a dressed weight basis at P48.00/kg. A gross income of P 8,834.00 was obtained while the actual-cost of production was P 8,051.17. The realized net income was P 782.83. Growing-Fattening hogs were still a profitable business at this time. Such activity can still be pursued provided proper care, feeding, housing and other environ-mental factors will be provided.
