The study was conducted from August 2018 to May 2019 in selected areas of Cavite, namely: Trece Martires City, Tanza, Indang, Imus City, Bacoor City, Dasmarinas City, and General Trias City. This study used descriptive statistical tools in analyzing data. The scope and limitation of this study focused on some solid waste management practices of the junk shop such as collecting, storage, processing, and transporting. Specially, the study aimed to: determine the socio-demographic profile of the owner of junk shop in selected areas of Cavite; (b) determine the business characteristics of junk shop in selected areas of Cavite; (c) determine the solid waste management practices of junk shop in business operation; and (d) determine the problems encountered by the owners of junk shop in terms of solid waste management.

The result showed that the average age of the owners / operators ranged from 26 to 60 years old. Majority of junk shop owners were male, married and high school graduate. Most of the participants were sole proprietor, below five years in the operation. Majority of the junk shop owners answered that for business like junk shop it is need to have a capital of P10,000 to P150,000.

Lastly, the most common problems mentioned by junk shop owners in the operation of their business were robbery, hazardous work, no compost pit, and rejected materials.
