The study was conducted at the experimental field of the Don Severino Agricultural College, Indang, Cavite from December 1988 to April 1989. The general objective of the study was to determine the response of safflower to different rates of Nitrogen fertilization. Three fertilizer treatments with: 30 kilograms of Nitrogen (30-30-30); 60 kilograms of Nitrogen (60-30-30), 90 kilograms of Nitrogen (90-30-30) were tested and the effects were compared with the control which was unfertilized with Nitrogen (030-30). Results obtained from the study indicated that the height of safflower was significantly affected by nitrogen contents of fertilizer at maturity.
Treatment 4 (90 kilograms of Nitrogen) gave the tallest plants and Treatment 1 (control), the shortest. The average number of branches was not significantly affected by the rate of nitrogen.
