DE LA CRUZ, CASPER ALLEN S. and MERCADO, FERNANDO LOUIS S. Design of Proposed College of Medicine at Cavite State University Main Campus. Undergraduate Design Project. Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, Cavite State University, Indang Cavite. June 2022. Adviser: Engr. Renato B. Cubilla. Design of Proposed College of Medicine at Cavite State University Main Campus was conducted at the residences of Mr. Dela Cruz and Mr. Mercado from February 2021 to December 2021.
Generally, the study aimed to design and analyze a College of Medicine building at Cavite State University - Main Campus. Developing a complete set of plans that is able to abide with the building codes and restrictions while having the capacity to accommodate the demand in aspiring health related learners is the focus of the structure. Through data gathering of specifications, the design of the building was put into place. The study aimed to address the future plan of the university in erecting a College of Medicine building thus utilizing all research available to factor in building related specifications, facilities, structural codes to accomplish the needed design. The design efficiently administered two (2) different room layouts conforming all codes and laws limiting the building. The Structural Aided Analysis and Design (STAAD pro) software was used to determine the factored axial load (Pu), ultimate shear (Vu) and ultimate Moment which are used in designing the structural members. Details on the computation are also shown in the study. All specifications, in architectural design and structural design, were duly followed in the design process. Detailed analysis and design were proven safe and economical after the manual computation of the design.
As this study was conducted during pandemic, the authors recommend a concise data gathering on the site. Having more updated resources would further benefit improvements and alterations that can be done on this design project. The authors designed the building to be a simple yet functional type of structure. With ease of use and efficiency, however, with the ever-changing parameters in health and safety it is recommended to consider future policies to be implemented and requirements to be followed. The authors highly recommend consistent communication and alignment with the government and health department's guidelines. The total estimated direct cost of the project was Php 45,574,602.86. The cost per square meter of the structure is PHP 13,404.295.
