The study was conducted at the greenhouse of Crop Science Department of the Don Severino Agricultural College, Indang, Cavite from August to December 1995 to determine the growth response of chrysanthemum to different sludge dilution levels and frequency of application using micro-sprinkler irrigation. Ten (10) treatments in three (3) replications using a a 2-factor factorial in Complete Randomized Design (CRD) was used. The water-sludge ratio (dilution level) represented Factor A, while the frequency of sludge application was assigned as Factor B. The sludge dilution levels (water-sludge) used were 1:1, 1:2 and 1:3. The frequencies were weekly, bi-weekly and monthly. Highly significant effects of both dilution level (water-sludge ratio) and frequency of sludge application and their interaction were observed on the number of flowers developed and final root length of chrysanthemum. Plant height was significantly affected by the frequency of sludge application only.
The most favorable results were exhibited by the plants applied with sludge at a level of 1:2 (water-sludge ratio) at a frequency of every two weeks (B2). Sludge as liquid fertilizer can be used to substitute inorganic/chemical fertilizer.
