MANAOR, JOHN KENNETH D. and MAQUINAY, JASMINE NICOLE M. Application of Lean Manufacturing on G. J. Silang Feeds Incorporated. Undergraduate Thesis. Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering. Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. June 2022. Adviser: Engr. Mary Joyce Alcazar.

The study was conducted in an attempt to analyze and evaluate the existing production processes of G.J. Silang Feeds Inc. through the application of lean manufacturing. Specifically, this study aimed to: (1) determine the existing processes in G. J. Silang Feeds Inc.; (2) identify the problems in the production processes of the company; (3) determine the possible causes of the identified problems; (4) provide possible solutions and recommendations for the problems that were encountered; and (5) evaluate the possible solutions and recommendations. This research identified the issues that arise in the production of animal feeds, potentially increasing the firm's opportunity losses. The researchers utilized the DMAIC methodology to identify the problem and its underlying causes, propose solutions, and recommend improvements. The primary sources of data included those coming from the use of process audit checklist, 5S audit checklist, and direct observations. The company's working environment is dirty, untidy, and not well organized. Due to the poor working conditions, the researchers decided to implement 5S to make workplace improvements. G.J. Silang Feeds, Inc. is currently conducting 5S. During the start of implementation of 5S, the said company was dealing with difficulties because a lot of things needed to be changed, which took longer than expected. 5S provided the concept for how to rearrange the workplace, distinguish the tools, eliminate wastes, and increased efficiency. After collecting and analyzing the data gathered after the implementation, it showed evidence that 5S did help the company improve. The results show that the company is realizing many improvements after running 5S and is willing to keep doing 5S daily.
