This study was conducted to determine the relationship between the emotional intelligence and outlook in life of selected male inmates at Lex Malolos City Provincial Jail.

Specifically, it aimed to determine the (1) profile of the respondents in terms of age, case, and length of imprisonment; (2) level of emotional intelligence in terms of self- awareness, self-regulation, motivation, social skills, and empathy; (3) outlook in life of the respondents whether they are optimistic or pessimistic; and (4) relationship between the emotional intelligence and outlook in life of the respondents.

The study covered three hundred (300) male inmates at Lex Malolos City Provincial Jail with three and above years length of imprisonment and with rape,homicide, and drug cases. To identify the perception towards emotional intelligence and outlook in life modified questionnaires were used. This study employed mean,frequency, percentage, and Spearman Rank Correlation Coefficient in identifying the degree of relatedness of emotional intelligence and outlook in life.

Results revealed that inmates had high level of emotional intelligence and have an optimistic outlook in life. The result also revealed that there is no significant relationship on emotional intelligence and outlook in life of male inmates at Lex Malolos City Provincial Jail.
