The study entitled, "Roles and Challenges of Solo Parents Amidst the Pandemic in Brgy. Cabezas, Trece Martires City. This study aimed to determine the roles of solo parents amidst the pandemic in Brgy. Cabezas Trece Martires City: a) provider b) nurturer; distinguish the challenges of a solo parents amidst the pandemic in Brgy. Cabezas Trece Martires City in terms of a) financial, b) psychological, c) social; and determine their treatment they received from their: a) family b) neighbors c) community.
The researchers used a Qualitative Research design specifically the Existential Phenomenological Approach. The researchers used self-made interview guide questions for the solo parents that were validated by their Thesis Adviser, Technical Critic, and three Social Work Experts in this study.
Most of the solo parents of the Brgy. Cabezas Trece Martires City is the provider of their family, they are the ones who give food, clothes and place to live for their children in today's pandemic. The solo parents experienced different challenges on three aspects namely, financial, psychological and social. The results showed that these challenges were not a hindrance for them to continue their roles as a solo parent, as the different treatment they receive from their family, friends and community is what motivates them to become a better parent. Moreover, from their long-time experience, even if the pandemic hits they don't easily give up, instead they become stronger because they know that what they do is for their children.
