This study was conducted to investigate the factors associated with job performance of Municipal Planning and Development Coordinators (MPDCs) in selected municipalities of Cavite and Batangas. Specifically, it aimed to: (1) determine the characteristics of Municipal Planning and Development Coordinators; (2) determine actual duties and responsibilities of MPDCs; (3) ascertain the level of job performance of MPDCs; (4) determine the correlation of the level of job performance of MPDCs with selected socio-economic factors and job related factors; and (5) identify the problems encountered by the MPDCs in the performance of their duties and responsibilities.
Data were gathered from 45 Municipal Planning and Development Coordinators using interview schedules. Methods of analysis used include frequency counts, percentages, range, rank, mean, standard deviations and Pearson Product-moment Correlation.
Most of the respondents were male, married, with an average age of 47 years and with three children. Thirty-five of them finished college with the degree of Civil Engineering while eight pursued Master’s degree and two finished Doctoral degree. The average length of service was 11 years. Ninety-eight percent were permanent in their position as MPDC and the average monthly salary was P20,210.
The respondents' actual duties and responsibilities were grouped into several categories of planning; monitoring and evaluation; coordinating and promoting people participation; doing routinary activities and doing some assigned jobs.
The respondents' level of job performance revealed that 69 percent of the respondents attained very satisfactory level of job performance, 27 percent had satisfactory and four percent rated outstanding.
The Pearson Product — Moment Correlation Coefficient revealed that educational attainment and job description had moderately positive correlation with job performance.
The problems encountered by the MPDCs in performing their duties and responsibilities were categorized such as: political, project planning and monitoring, human resource management, financial management, information/data management, training and physical facilities.
