The study entitled COMPARATIVE PERFORMANCE OF PAPAYA SEEDLINGS TREATED WITH DIFFERENT LEVELS OF INSECTICIDE AND DETERGENT SOLUTION was conducted to determine the effect of the different levels of insecticide and detergent solution on the performance of papaya seedlings and identify which of the concentration of insecticide and detergent solution will give the best results. It was performed at the researcher's residence at Carasuchi, Indang, Cavite from August, 1992 to January, 1993.

A Split-Plot Design was used with a total of 300 Seedlings of papaya divided into Factor A (Kinds of Solution) and Factor B (Levels of Concentration) replicated thrice. Factor A is composed of two treatments as follows: Sl, which used insecticide (Nicotine Sulfate) and S2, which used detergent solution as preventive solution, respectively. Factor B consisted of treatment CO (no solution applied),

Cl (100 ppm), C2 (200 ppm), C3 (300 ppm), Ch (400 ppm), CS (500 ppm), C6 (600 ppm), C7 (700 ppm), C8 (800 ppm), and c9 (900 ppm.

The study revealed that the kind of solution did not affect the performance of papaya seedlings. On the other hand, levels of concentration applied to the crop showed effect on its performance. Treatments applied with the concentration of solution at a level of 700 and 900 ppm gave the best performance to papaya seedlings. It was found out that the papaya seedlings treated with concentration of solution at a level of 700 to 900 ppm, shows no infection of leaves. Moreover, findings revealed that insecticide (nicotine Sulfate) and detergent solution (Pride) serve as a repellant to the infestation of seedlings.
