The study "Population Density of Iiungbeans' 'was conducted from October 1978 to January 1979 at Banaba Cerca Indang, Cavite. It aimed to know the effect of popula-tion density on the growth and yield of mungbeans and to find out the best population density of CES-X-10. A 392 square meter field was plowed and harrowed three timaltĀ° insure pulverizing and leveling of soils to allow weed seeds to germinate. A randomized complete block design was used in this study. The field was divided into three blocks which constituted the replication and was further sub-divided into five sub blocks which constituted the treatments. Mungbean seeds were planted at different population densities i.e. T1 - 200,000 plants per hectare, T2 - 300,000 plants per hectare, T3 - 400,000 plants per hectare, T4 - 500,000 plants per hectare and T5 - 600,000 plants per hectare. Based on the results of the study, there, were highly significant differences among the treatments regar ding the following: average height of plants at maturity,,
average weight of plants at maturity and average weight of marketable seeds per plant On the ,other hand, insignifi-cant result was obtained on the average weight of unmarke-table seeds per plant. Treatment 4 500,000 plants per hectare or 10.1 gantas) gave the nest results and also the highest compu-ted yield in kilograms per hectare.
