DE LEON, NOELITO TOPACIO. Saving Habits of Employees in Selected Government Offices in Imus, Cavite. Undergraduate Thesis. Bachelor of Science in Business Management - Major in Economics. Cavite State University. Imus, Cavite. March 2009. Adviser: Ms. Luisita A. Marzan.

This study determined the relationship between employees' socio-demographic characteristics, namely the age, gender, civil status, employment status and estimated monthly income; and their saving habits which are measured in terms of the amount, frequency and manner of saving. Purposive sampling with a 100 sample size was considered in this study. This was conducted in the Imus Municipal Hall and at Cavite Civic Center. Frequencies and percentages were used in the presentation of data, while descriptive correlation and chi-square test were used to determine the relation between the dependent and independent variables.

Survey results showed that 65% out of the 100 respondents actually save, majority of which were male and married, and are regular employees earning between P5,000 — P13,999. Test results showed a weak positive correlation between the age and the amount of saving at a 0.05 significance level, which means that the amount of saving does not necessarily increase as age increases. The chi-square test results for the other socio-demographic characteristics and saving habits showed an absence of a relationship. Meaning, the null hypothesis of no relationship is accepted, significant at the 5% level.
