The “Study of Absenteeism Among Grade I-III Pupils of Selected Public Schools in Indang, Cavite SY 2007- 2008” was conducted at the selected schools in Indang, Cavite which were Indang Central Elementary School, Balagbag Elementary School and Daine Elementary School. This study aimed to 1) determine the demographic profile of grades I-III of selected public schools in Indang, Cavite in terms of age, gender and grade level 2) determine the following factors that affect absenteeism of grade I-III pupils of selected public schools in Indang, Cavite (health, financial problem, transport system and personal interest); and 3) determine the relationship of the demographic profile to the factors that affects absenteeism of grades I-III of selected public schools in Indang, Cavite.

The researchers used the non-experimental design in which the very popular descriptive approach was involved.

The result showed that most of the respondents were female and most of them belonged to the age bracket of 8-9 years old. It also showed that grade three levels have the higher number of absentees. The result also showed the status of the factors affecting absenteeism. For illness, the most common cause of absenteeism were multiple diseases such as fever, toothache, cough, headache, colds, chicken pox, pulmonary diseases, measles, skin disease and other diseases. For other related factors, most of the respondents said that the distance of their house to school was not far and the majority of the respondents rode in the tricycle.
