BRIONES, JELYNE A. and PADILLA, PSYRIE ERIKA M. Development of Portable Organizer Using Android Application for CELT Students of Cavite State University. Undergraduate Thesis Bachelor of Science in Information Technology. Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. April 2014. Adviser: Ms. Vanessa G. Coronado.
The study was conducted from June 2013 to February 2014 at Cavite State University (CvSU) Indang, Cavite. It generally aimed to develop a mobile application exclusively for CvSU- College of Engineering and Information Technology (CELT) students with the integration of android technology. Specifically it aimed to identify the problems encountered regarding class schedule by using interview and survey questions, analyze the problems identified by using entity relationship diagram and fish bone diagram of the existing system, design a mobile application that is capable of performing the functions being proposed by the developer using use case diagram and class diagram, develop an Android application using Java as the main programming language, SQLite for the database and Eclipse for the design of the application, and evaluate the application using unit, integration and acceptance testing. The methodology used by the proponents was the software development methodology. It consists of eight phases; analyze/planning breakdown priority project, design module, code test, debug, integration of sub procedure and testing, integration of wing g system, and test I implementation. The respondents were 356 students who evaluated the system based on its; functionality, reliability, usability, efficiency, maintainability, and portability.
The results were tabulated, analyzed and statistically treated using mean and standard deviation. Based on the results, the application was assessed as excellent which proves that the objectives and requirements of the application were achieved. In accordance with the results of the study, the portable organizer for the College of Engineering and Information Technology (CEIT) students of Cavite State University (CvSU) can be a solution to the identified problems of the organization. The following were recommended for further improvement and enhancement of the system; additional courses for other colleges in the university, assessment if a subject can be enrolled by a student based on the pre-requisites, notification if the users have three consecutive incomplete or failed grade in a subject, enhancement of notification through sound, verification whether the user is a student of CvSU under CELL includes list of teachers, and back-up files or information being stored in the application.
