LINGGATONG, JERYL CHRISTIAN S., Raw Materials-Supply Analysis of KN Industries Inc. Undergraduate Case Study. Bachelor of Science in Business Management major in Business Economics. Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. May 2013. Adviser: Cecilia T. Cayao.
A case study on the raw materials-supply analysis of KN Industries, Inc. located in 985 Kay Talise St., Barangay. San Dionisio, Paranaque City 1700, Philippines was conducted from December 2012 to February 2013. The objectives of the study were to: 1. identify the raw materials needed by the firm; 2. identify the sources of raw materials of the firm; 3. determine the factors of supplier selection; 4. analyze the inventory management of the firm; and 5. determine the problems encountered on raw materials and recommend possible solutions. In understanding the raw-materials-supply condition, the author compared the past performance of the company with the economic order quantity. Findings showed that the inventory carrying cost and inventory ordering cost were recorded and monitored monthly by the accounting department to determine the economic order quantity. The carrying cost and ordering cost for the years 2011 and 2012 showed very little variance. Findings also showed that there was an increase of 2% in total inventory cost for 2012 and an increase of 9% on total demand for the company's products and services during the year 2012. This showed that the company was able to maintain and manage inventory cost well considering the sizeable increase in demand for its products and services.
