This study tackled the determinants of work-family life imbalance among faculty members of Cavite State University. Specifically, this study aimed to determine the demographic profile of the participants, the degree of work-life conflict, the level of role stress present, the significant difference in the level of stress based on the role stressors, significant relationship between work-life conflict and the level of stress in terms of role ambiguity, role conflict, role autonomy and role overload. The presence of work-family life imbalance was also determined.
Descriptive-correlational method of research was used in this study. The participants of the study were faculty members of Cavite State University-Main Campus. The study utilized a questionnaire to gather data and Likert Scale was used to measure the degree of work-life conflict and role stress. Mean, frequency and standard deviation were used in analyzing descriptive data while Friedman test and Spearman Rank correlation were used to determine significant difference and significant relationship, respectively. Results revealed that most of the respondents were at most 29 years old, married, female and worked on job order status. The degree of work-life conflict in terms of work to family conflict and family to work conflict was found to be of average degree. However, the degree of interference of work to family life was bigger than the interference of family to work life. Overall level of stress was found at a high level. There has been a significant difference between levels of role stress based on the four role stressors and there was a significant relationship between work-life conflict and role stress. The study also revealed that there was work-family life imbalance among faculty members of Cavite State University.
