PACAYRA, RYAN M. and TAMPOS, SAM JANE R. Hayo: A Proposed Disaster Resilient Floating Evacuation Center. Undergraduate Thesis. Bachelor of Science in Architecture. Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. April 2016. Adviser: Arch James Art L. Pimentel.

The study was conducted from June 2015 to April 2016 at Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite to formulate a design and plan for the proposed disaster resilient floating evacuation center. Specifically, it aimed to: 1. Apply floatation system for the evacuation center to achieve sustainaquality; 2. Establish the qualities of site that will serve as a basis in selecting the most efficient location for the center, 3. Determine the capacity that a floating evacuation center can accommodate: 4. Identify the appropriate laws, codes and which shall govern the design of the floating evacuation center; 5. Formulate form concept and design concept that will serve as basis in conceptualizing the form and design of the structure; 6. Determine a design philosophy that the proposed center will follow in the design solution and conceptualization: 7. Establish the appropriate design considerations for the proposal; 8. Identify specific design features and facilities best suited for the functional and efficient architectural design; and 9. Propose a facility strategically located near Pasig River to provide an integrated and improved diversion to deliver the needs of the evacuees during and after the disaster happen.

The study aimed to apply strategic plans and designs for an effective floating evacuation center that can respond to the growing problem of casualties during disasters and calamities. This also responds to the needs of evacuees, especially workers and children, wherein their learning and works stops due to cancelation of classes and inability to go to work.

The data used throughout the study was gathered through library research and network information (database research). Some of it were also acquired through personal interviews which was done at the government agency offices which are involved in the Study.

The study confirmed that there is a need for a proposed disaster resilient evacuation and that Pasig River 1s a suitable site for it. Pasig River is the bridge way between the inner and outer boundaries of water in the Philippines. At the end of the study, the researchers were able to develop disaster resilient design and plan that met the need of the end-users which are the Filipino evacuees. Detailed architectural plans, sections, elevations, perspective and scaled model were made to show the appearance and features of the project which will serve as a reference for other researchers, students and faculty members of the university and can also be presented to the possible benefactors both government and non-government organizations.
|
