Ramos.<br/>The study entitled "Textile Dye Performance of Dried Coffee (Coffea robusta) Pericarp"<br/>was conducted at Cavite State University — Research Center. The study was conducted to determine the textile dye performance of dried coffee pericarp. Specifically, the study was conducted to determine: (1) the phytochemical components present in the dried coffee pericarp,<br/>(2) the physical properties of the liquid dye in terms of color and pH level, and (3) the textile sample that show the best dried coffee pericarp dye performance in terms of color, texture and color fastness.<br/>The coffee pericarp was gathered from a coffee farm in Amadeo, Cavite, the textiles were obtained from a local tailoring shop in Luksuhin, Alfonso, Cavite and the other materials were<br/>provided by the researchers and by the Research Center. The coffee pericarp was washed to remove dirt and foreign objects. When it is already dried, the coffee pericarp was grinded using an electric grinder. The grinded coffee pericarp was subjected to Soxhlet Extraction to obtain the liquid dye. After obtaining the liquid dye, the dye was applied to each of the four treatments cotton cloth, geena silk cloth, Philippine Chiffon cloth and Star Satin Cloth, and the dyed cloth<br/>were set aside ready for evaluation according to color, texture, and color fastness.<br/>Phytochemicals analysis identified sterols, flavonoids, alkaloids, saponins, glycosides and tannins to be present in the extracted dye. The color of the dye is brown while its pH level is<br/>7.34. The results show that the best treatment in terms of color is Treatment l , which is cotton cloth, and the best treatment according to texture and color fastness is Treatment 4, which is star satin cloth.<br/> |
