ARCA, JOHN MARK P., BARANGAN, EDWARD M., and NOVERO, MARITES<br/>P. "Social Learning and Violence against Women in Indang, Cavite" Undergraduate Thesis. Bachelor of Science in Criminology. Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. May 2017. Adviser: Famela Iza Cabe-Matic.<br/>The study was conducted from May 2016 to May 2017, to assess the level of social learning and the level of awareness on violence against women Indang, Cavite. Specifically, the study aimed to: assess the socio-demographic profile of the participants; assess the level of the social learning of the participants; assess the level of awareness of the participants towards violence against women; the significant relationship between the socio-demographic profile and the level of awareness of the participants towards violence against women; and the significant relationship between the level of social learning and the level of awareness of the participants towards violence against women.<br/>Quantitative survey research method was used in the study. Systematic sampling technique was used to identify the total participants. The total participants of the study were 432 residents from Municipality of Indang, Cavite. A self-made survey questionnaire was used as the main gathering tool for this study.<br/>Based on the result of the study, the assessment of the socio-demographic profile of the participants has no significant relationship on violence against women; the level of social learning of the participants got the total mean score of 3.08 with verbal interpretation of "high". It implies that most of the participants agreed that the deviant behavior is learned; the level of awareness of the participants towards violence against women got the total mean score of' 3.02 with verbal interpretation of "aware". It implies that the participants of the research were aware of the different types of abuse on women.<br/><br/>Therefore, the null hypothesis, there is no significant relationship between the socio demographic profile and awareness of the participants towards violence against women was accepted. However, the null hypothesis, there is no significant relationship between the level of social learning and the awareness of the participants towards violence against women was rejected.<br/>Based on the findings and conclusion drawn that social learning has a significant role why man commits violence against women. The researchers conclude that men commit violence against women because they learned the acts from their environment. They tend to imitate deviant behaviors and justify that their act was for good caused and it does not harm others. When the unlawful act was not given an appropriate punishments or rewards, the unbalance consequences for the unlawful act may increase the degree of reoffending. Also, it is recommended that they must be fully aware on their acts every time. And the municipal officials of Indang, Cavite must organize a strict implementation of law concerning about violence against women.<br/> |
