HERMOSO, ROSANNA ROLLE, "Employment Status and Role of Rural Women in Alfonso, Cavite". B.S. Thesis Agricultural Economics. Don Severino Agricultural College. April 1986. Adviser: Professor Alice T. Valerio. <br/><br/> This study was conducted for the purpose of deter- mining the employment status and role of rural women. Specifically, it aimed. 1) to determine the socio-economic status of rural women; 2) to know their reasons for employment and types of employment; 3) to find out their role in household activities; 4) to assess their level of living; 5) to ascertain the degree of relationship between some factors and status of employment; and identify their problems and aspirations. 6) Alfonso, Cavite was selected as the place of the study. Eight barrios were included in the study and 12 respondents constituted the sample for each barrio. Rural women's ages ranged from 15 to 56 years. <br/><br/> The average age was 35. Majority of the respondents were married and a large percentage of them were able to finish college. A great percentage of the respondents were teachers. Majority had permanent jobs. Their main reason for working was to augment income from other sources. Aside from their jobs, they were able to work in their homes with the help of their maids, grown-up children, and parents. They also took part in the decision-making. Process at home. Only 31 percent of the respondents were able to work in the farm. Even though they were living in rural areas, they enjoy a high level of living. Years of working experience affected the status of employment of the respondents. Problems encountered by the rural women were high prices of prime commodities, limited time allotted for household activities and low salary. Most of their aspirations were to educate their children and to earn more. <br/> |
