OLIVER, CHEZKA M. BACKYARD HOG FATTENING IN MARAGONDON, CAVITE: AN ENTREPENEURIAL PROJECT. Bachelor of Agricultural Entrepreneurship Major in Animal Production. Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. May 2017. Adviser: Dr. Cristina F. Olo, Ph.D.<br/><br/>The purpose of this project was to develop the ability of the student to raise hogs and obtained profit after the completion of the project. The project was conducted at Barangay Pantihan 3, Maragondon , Cavite from February 9 to April 28, 2017.<br/>This project aimed to expose the student entrepreneur in the actual management of a backyard hog fattening project. Specifically, it aimed to: (1) gain and develop skills on handling backyard hog fattening project; (2) identify the problems and solutions associated with hog management practices; and (3) earn profit after the operation of the project. The project started with the initial capital of P 33, 000. The actual expenses were as follows: 4 piglets cost P 13,040 the first 10 kg was P2,300 and P 120.00 per excess kg,<br/>total feed cost was P 12,523.28 and other expenses cost P 2,582. The total return was<br/>P 32,880 with a net income was P 4,734.72.<br/>The average initial weight of the four piglets was 18 kg and an average final body weight of 63 kg gives us an average daily gain was 0.58 kg. The hogs consumed an<br/>average of 135 kg of feeds per head, giving a feed conversion ratio of 3.07. In this<br/>project the return of investment was 16.82 % which was lower than expected.<br/> |
