BARRERA JR, RAUL P. and IKAN, JOHN RHEYNAN C. Methods of Operation of BudolBudol Gang as Experienced by its Victims. Undergraduate Thesis, Bachelor of Science in Criminology. Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. April 2017. Adviser: Dr. Ruby Ann L. Espineli.

The study was conducted from May 2016 to May 2017 to determine the methods of operation of the budol-budol gang as experienced by its victims. Specifically, it determined the methods of operation of budol-budol gang as experienced by its victim before, during and after victimization, also the victims recommendation. Descriptive method of research was used in this study to describe the method of operation of budol-budol gang as experienced by its victims. Interview technique was
employed. The participants of this study were three ( 3 ) identified Budol-budol victims in selected areas of Cavite who gave their voluntary participation in this study. Self-made interview guide served as the main gathering tool of this study.

Before budol-budol victimization, time d place is very crucial in the operation of budol-budol . It is usually done at noon and in urbanized areas. Also, the number of con artist is not of great importance because budol-budol could be operated by one con artist or group of con-artist. The pretention is supported by their physical appearance and specifically, accompanied by proposal which serves as tool to get the target-victims attention.

During victimization, budol-budol operates using sweet talk and/or body contacts
such as touching the target-victim. The victim though still mindful lost his/her rational decision making capability, aking him/her ust say yes or nod in every demand of the
artist.
After victimization, budol-budol con-artist get its way out together with the valuables of its victim in a non-violent and no argument manner. Victims usually able to recognize that they were victimized after the con artist made its way out. Thus, it is necessary to the people that they have knowledge about budo/-budo/methods of operation to avoid becoming budol-budolvictim. This may be possible, it they are actively participated on the lectures and seminars provided by the Philippine National Police on crime prevention. The result of this study would greatly help the organization on how to response, control and prevent budo/-budo/operation. Hence, It is recommended that the Philippine National Police may provide and regularly conduct lectures and seminars on crime prevention to strengthen the awareness of the residents on the prevailing crimes. It is also suggested that the local government and barangaycould support and financially assist the PNP organization campaign against budol-budol through organization of seminars and lectures in its municipality. More so, it is recommended for the commercial establishment to strengthen its security services toprevent the occurrence of budol-budol and other crimes. Also, Security agency could conduct seminars regarding the method of operation of budol-budol gang, so that their clients will be prevented to be victims of such crimes.
|
