LARES, DAN ROBERT J., Factors Affecting the Sexual Identification of Gay Adolescents in Selected Public High Schools of Imus City, Cavite. Undergraduate thesis. Bachelor of Science in Psychology. Cavite State University-Imus Campus. March 2013. Adviser: Ms. Alfe Solina. <br/>This study aims to determine the factors that affect the sexual identification of gay adolescents in Imus City, Cavite. A total of 50 public high school students from Imus National High School-Main and General Emilio Aguinaldo National High School-Main, both located in Imus City, Cavite participated in the study. Purposive sampling was used to ensure that the criteria enumerated by the researcher for the target respondents are met. The instrument utilized in the study was devised to prove the factors enumerated in the study. Statistical treatment of data was done through the utilization of percentage, ranking, weighted mean, Friedman test, Fisher's Exact test and Pearson Chi-square Test of Independence. <br/>Results of the study revealed that all of the presumed factors (Self, family, peers, media, school, and community) are factors affecting sexual identification of gay adolescents. Family, peers, media, school and the community has moderate level of influence while the self was considered as influential and has a high level of influence. It was also found out that there is a highly significant difference between the factors.<br/>Moreover, the self and family factor is considered as the most dominant factor. Based on the results, there was no significant relationship between religion and factors affecting the sexual identification and in addition to this, self, media, school and community were not dependent to family income. However, there was a highly significant relationship between family income and family factor. This revealed that a person with higher family income tends to identify himself more based on family factor compared to a person with lower family income. <br/>Further, it was revealed that there was also a significant relationship between family income and peers factor. This is an indication that a person with higher family income tends to identify himself more based on peers factor compared to a person with lower family income.<br/> |
