E.O., CRISTOBAL, E.P., DIESTA, K.F., Predictors of Work Engagement Among Teachers of Selected Public Secondary Schools in Cavite. Undergraduate Thesis. Bachelor of Science in Business Management. Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite, May 2017. Adviser: Dr. Florindo C. Ilagan.
This study was carried out to determine the predictors of work engagement among teachers of selected public secondary schools in Cavite. Specifically, it aimed to determine the demographic profile of the public secondary school teachers in Cavite; the strongest factors of their work engagement in terms of tangible resources, intangible resources and hindrance demands; their level of work engagement; the significant difference in the level of work engagement when they are grouped according to demographic profile; the significant relationship between tangible resources and work engagement; the significant relationship between intangible resources and work
engagement; and the s engagement. The participants of the study were 277 teachers of selected public secondary schools in Cavite. Data were gathered through the use of a questionnaire. Frequency count, mean, percentage, and standard deviation were used to describe the demographic profile of teachers, the strongest factor of work engagement, and the level of engagement among teachers. The Mann Whitney, Kruskal-Wallis and One-Way ANOVA were used for the test of difference, the Spearman Rank Correlation was used for the test of relationship. Stepwise backward multiple regression was used to determine the best predictors of work engagement and the significant relationship between hindrance demands and work Findings of the study showed that support from colleagues was the strongest factor of work engagement in terms of intangible resources. This implies that teachers are afraid to lose the bond that they have built with their co-workers and that makes them -fully engaged in their work. There was a significant difference in the level of work engagement between male and female. It seems that female teachers have strongly identified with their work because they experienced meaningful, inspiring and challenging job. The level of work engagement among teachers had a significant relationship in terms of intangible resources. It can be assumed that factors of intangible resources were considered by the organization in order to produce competitive advantage and effective employees. The best predictors of work engagement were intangible resources and sex. It means that work engagement can be improve if intangible resources will be provided and will increase if the teachers is female.
|
