Undergraduate Thesis. Bachelor of Science in International Studies. Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. May 2017. Adviser: Ms. Angel Rea Mae Y. Martinez. <br/>This study was conducted to identify and document the situation of Cavite State University students whose parents are Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs). Specifically, this study was carried out to describe the demographic-economic characteristics and academic profile of the selected college students in the Cavite State University; describe the characteristics of OFW parents and other elated information; determinee how the participants manage their emotional well-being; identify the reasons of the parents for migrating or working abroad; determine how they manage their income; identify the advantages and disadvantages of having an OFW parents; and determine the plans of their parents when they come back from working abroad. The study was conducted from April 2017 to May 2017 at Cavite State University Don Severino de las Alas Campus, Silang Campus, Imus Campus and Rosario Campus. The participants of the study were the 200 selected college students from four campuses of Cavite State University. The participants' age ranged from 18 to 26 years old with a mean age of 19 years. More than half (58%) of the participants were female students. Students' OFW parents decided to work abroad both to have a better life and support the basic needs of the family (50%). The data showed that most of the families managed their money in a way that half of the income goes to the basic needs of the family (44%), while others chose to save money for their future (44%). <br/> |
