Bachelor of Science in Psychology. Cavite State University. May 2017. Thesis Adviser: Mrs. Joy N. Babaan. <br/>This research focused on the birth order, perceived parental expectation and academic achievement of selected male and female grade VI elementary pupils from private schools in Mendez, Cavite, who are living with their biological parents and have siblings. Saint Agustin School had six (6) participants, Young Kwang Gukje International School had seventeen (17) participants, San Isidro Labrador School had six (6) participants, Saint Agnes Gracious School had thirty (30) participants, Mendez Christian Academy had twenty-nine (29) participants and Mendez Nufiez Montessori had twenty-nine (29) participants, therefore, there was a total of one hundred and seventeen (117) participants in the study. The participants of the study were determined by means of purposive sampling and the research design used was the descriptive correlational design. The study revealed that there is no significant relationship between birth order and perceived parental expectation, between birth order and academic achievement, and between perceived parental expectation and academic achievement. There is also no significant difference between birth order and academic achievement but there is a significant difference between birth order and perceived parental expectation. With the outcome of the study, the researchers are highly recommending the use of other variables or conduct of the study at different schools for the improvement and wider scope of the study. <br/> |
