Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. July 2017. Adviser: Ms. Poinsettia A. Vida.<br/><br/>A study was conducted to develop an automated multi-crop chips fryer. The project aimed to contribute to food security and economic growth. The general objective The study was to develop an automated multi-crop chips fryer. The study specifically aimed to: design and construct a microcontroller circuit for the system; develop and fabricate components for transfer, blanching, frying and cooling process of the system; develop an Arduino program to control the system; test and evaluate the device through: technical testing and user acceptance in terms of performance, efficiency, and output quality; and conduct a cost computation of the system.<br/><br/>The materials that were used in the study were: microcontroller unit. deep fryer heating element, magnetic contactor, temperature controller, and blower fans. The automated Multi-crop Chips fryer can make banana, cassava, potato and sweet potato chips. The system only needs human work by manually placing the crops in the machine and removing the output fried chips from the tray.<br/><br/>The testing and evaluation showed that the automation of frying through the device proved to be an easier way to make fried chips than the manual method. The objectives of the study were met and the machine provided a better performance, in terms of efficiency and output quality.<br/><br/>The total cost of the system amounted to P 37,830.<br/> |
