Bachelor of Science in Psychology, Department of Social Science and Humanities, College of Arts and Sciences, Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. March 2018. Adviser: Anni Grace B. Desingaño, RPm, LPT. <br/><br/>This study determined the lived experiences of breastfeeding mothers in public in Cavite, the manifestation feelings, thoughts, and emotion of the participants about how they perceived themselves as a woman breastfeeding in public, how they see public breastfeeding, and how they see the people who ridicule them while breastfeeding in public.<br/><br/>The researchers employed an interpretative phenomenological study with qualitative approach. With the use of purposive sampling, 8 participants were involved in this study. The participants were four first time mothers and four non-first —time mothers ages 20 to 40 living in Cavite and willing to feed on demand their children wherever they are, ages 2 and below. The researchers used an interview guide with 12 questions about the participants perception and experiences about public breastfeeding conducted from January 2018 to February 2018 around Cavite. <br/>The research revealed that even though experiences of the participants varied from each other, their perception about public breastfeeding where the same as the other mother in the sense that they were breastfeeding all for the sake of the child and they were selfless mothers who look beyond themselves but their children whom they wish to received the "golden milk" that is natural and the God's gift; the participants see public breastfeeding as normal even though some were not educated about it and even if they were receiving negative comments from the bystanders sometimes; and that they will still continue to breastfeed in public because they believe that it is the right of the child to receive the best nutrition coming from their own bodies.<br/> |
