VICENTE, FAITH G. Social implications of Early Pregnancy in Dasmarinas City, Cavite for Possible Proposed Intervention Program for Cswdo.Undergraduate Thesis. Bachelor of Science in Social Work, Cavite State University, Indang Cavite. April 2017. Adviser: Renato T. Agdalpen
This study was conducted in Dasmarinas City, Cavite from January to March 2017 to determine the social implications of early pregnancy in Dasmarinas City, Cavite. Specifically, it aimed to; 1. determine the overall current status of early pregnancy; 2.
Identify problems encountered by early pregnant among women; 3.determine implications of the early pregnancy in Dasmarifias in terms of health and the way of living; 4. identify the overall effects of teenage pregnancy to the teenage pregnant mother and to the family and 5.identify possible intervention programs can be proposed to CSWDO.
The study utilized descriptive narrative study, which was used to state and determine the real-life situation of the participants, explain the conditions of the beneficiaries as well as determine the social implications of early pregnancy in Dasmarifias City, Cavite.
Purposive sampling was used in this study and the participants were ten. Data from the interview conducted were conducted and reviewed. The collected data serves as the basis of computed results.
Teenage pregnancy has its own factors based on the interview, namely, family issues which drags the teenage mother away from her parents, low literacy rates that serves as a limit when it comes to employment which often makes the income source for their children a problem. It is faced with risks faced by the teenage parent and her child; these risks include physical, mental, and social factors. Physically, a teenager is not yet fully developed in terms of childbearing, this could cause more problems that could happen to the mother or the child. Mentally, teenagers are not ready with the responsibility that they are facing. Socially, a teenage girl would be affected by her pregnancy in terms of education and peers. A pregnant teenager is most likely to drop out of school and supposed to find a job to provide for her child.
Teenage mothers are undergoing counseling, educational seminars, and family planning lectures in order to lessen the rates or cases of early pregnancy in their area. According to the interviewed social workers, early pregnancy cases could be lessened if there would be more intervention programs implemented such as classroom lectures in order to let teenagers be aware about the risks and consequences brought by teenage pregnancy. The teenage mother's parents also undergo counseling to let them know the importance of family planning and other birth control methods and to let them know their role to play in their child's situation and be able to help them through regarding the situation.
|
