Dizon. <br/>The study aimed to develop and evaluate a microcontroller-based hammer mill machine at the Cavite State University. The primary purpose of the microcontroller-based hammer mill machine was to automate and enhance the operation of the existing hammer mill machine in order to lessen effort in weighing grinded crops. It specifically aimed to design and construct the microcontroller circuit system, develop a software of the system, use an output bin and an analog weighing scale to measure weight of output, evaluate and test the operation of the microcontroller-based hammer mill machine based on speed of grinding and weighing crops, and make a cost computation of the system. The system was composed of four main parts: hammer mill, output bin, weighing system, and microcontroller unit. The construction involved the use of electronic devices such as integrated circuits, transformer, relays and other passive devices like capacitor and resistors. The design project was presented to the proponents' adviser and technical critic during the preliminary evaluation conducted at the Institute of Food Science and Technology of Cavite State University. The final evaluation of the design was also conducted in the same venue from January to February 2005. The system underwent a series of pilot testing and evaluation to ensure its accuracy and reliability. The proponents entered the desired weight that the system will produce. Crops were grinded inside the hammer mill machine but the machine could not dispense crops properly due to a flat design of its output passage so grinded crops were transferred into the output bin manually. The output bin dispensed grinded crops into the weighing scale. When the entered weight has met, the output bin stopped dispensing grinded crops. The accuracy of weight was calculated after the time consumed in grinding, as well as the weight produced by the system was recorded. The project was examined and found satisfactory.<br/>
