Undergraduate Design Project. Bachelor of Science in Architecture. Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. April 2016. Adviser: Arch. Kenn Paolo C. Valero. <br/>The study conducted from April 2015 to March 2016 at College of Engineering and Information Technology, Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite to design a proposed Cavite Capitol Complex at Silang, Cavite. Specifically, the study aimed to: 1. develop the selected site for the El Capitolio de Caviteño; 2. identify building materials to reborn the historical character of Cavite by incorporating Emilio Aguinaldo Shrine concept; 3. identify sustainable urban planning and landscape techniques for Cavite provincial compound; 4. identify the facilities and government offices to be transferred; and 5. identify strategies for designing safer streets. A new approach to the study is a way of urban planning design with three-R process of relocating, reviving and reinventing the institutional image of the provincial capitol complex of Cavite. This will greatly honor and preserve the architectural heritage and influence the economy and tourism of the province. The authors considered the National Building Code, Local Government Code of 1991, and Silang's Municipal Ordinance in formulating the concept. Provision of sufficient necessities due to various seasons and generations were also considered for the building complexity. The authors had undergone research studies regarding the country's current status on its institution. They conducted interviews from the local government, public, urban architects and site observations. The results led the authors to continue proposing the Cavite Provincial Complex at Lalaan I, Silang, Cavite. They found out that the proposed study as a civic center for cultural heritage is very much feasible. In terms of location and accessibility, Lalaan I Silang, Cavite is the appropriate site that is adjacent to Emilio Aguinaldo Highway with its 6-lane road that reduces to 4- lane after passing Dasmariñas City up to Bacoor. One of the discovered on-going projects of DPWH is the Cavite- Laguna Expressway (CALAx) that will ease traffic congestion in Emilio Aguinaldo Highway and Governor's Drive. The zoning is not a problem because the site is intended for government use only. With this it would be easier also to promote the heritage of the province through the concept of Filipino Architecture, the mirror and reflection of Caviteños. Upon the implementation of the study, it is recommended that the government should consider and apply the three-R process in designing the new Cavite capitol. Through this, the next seat of government will become the symbol of the province's glorious past, culture, and authority. <br/> |
