"An Economic Study of Processing Fruits and Vegetables at Don Severino Agri-cultural College, Indang, Cavite.- Advisers Dr. Maria A. Ersando. <br/>The study was conducted at the National Training and Demonstration Center of the Don Severino Agricultural Collage with the aim of 1) determining the costs and returns of processing fruits and vegetables at the centers 2) describing the operational practices of the center, including, the maceti-1.7, practices, and 3) determining problems encountered by the center. The needed information were gathered through personal interviews with the rnanagement and other personnel of the center. The products of the center as of the date of the study. Were banana chips, banana sauce, tomato sauce, fruit cocktail, guyabano concentrates_, pineapple jam, pineapple jelly, Pineapple candy, kamias prunes vegetable pickles, papaya pickles, pickle relish, whole pickles, tomato candy, balimbing prunes, guava jelly and santol jelly. The buyers of these products were either wholesaler-retailer, retailer or final consumers. The total sales and expenses of the‘center in 1989 were P58,478.65 and P33,629.98,respectively which suggest, a negative net income. Some stocks of processed products, however, were left unsold during that period. The main problems encountered include 1) difficul-ties in the acquisition of .the raw materials, 2) inavai-lability of vehicles to transport products 3) lack of funds for printing the processing brochures and other materials needed in its operation. To solve some of its problems, it was suggested that a tie-up be established with the SAKA and DSAC production projects which in turn will supply the needed raw materials; that a vehicle be assigned solely for the use of the NTDC in delivering its products; and that the NTDC generate enough funds.<br/>
