Summary, etc. GOTOMAN, DOLORES MASICAP. "Income and Resource Employ-ment Effects of Cropping Pattern Technology in Selected Towns of Cavite" B.S Thesis, Bachelor of Science in Agri-culture, Major in Agricultural Economics, Done Severino Agricultural College, Indang, Cavite, April 1991.
This study aimed to determine the: 1) socio-economic characteristics of the farmers; 2) different cropping pat-terns existing in the study area; 3) effect of cropping intensification on income and employment of the farmers; 4) compare the income and employment of the farmers from different cropping patterns; and 5) problems encountered in adopting the cropping pattern technology. This study was conducted in five selected towns of Cavite namely: Indang, Amadeo, Alfonso, Trece Martires City and Silang. The samples were selected purposively. The age of the farmers ranged from 29 to 83 with an average age of 52 years. Majority of the farmers had reached only elementary level of education. Based on the study, most of the farmers are still tenants and the land holding average is two hectares. The .study showed that income of the farmers was subjected to many factors like the adoption of cropping pat-tern technology, drought, and the like, that greatly affected the production of the farmers. The null hypothesis stating that there is no significant differences on income and employment of the farmers before and after the adoption of cropping pattern technologies was not accepted. It also showed that those farmers who intensified more their land, obtained higher output than those who planted just one to two crops in their farm. The cropping pattern technology which consist of more than six crops planted obtained the maximum level of production of P85,050.00. The problems encountered were: losses or less production due to natural forces like typhoon, drought; occur-rence of pest and diseases; lack of capitals, high prices of input; and low price of the produce goods. The occurrence of destructive animals and thieves also contribute to the problems that they encountered.
