SADIM, ANALIZA SOLETA, "Technology Assessment of Pineapple Production in Selected Towns of Upland Cavite", B. S. Thesis, Bachelor of Science in Agriculture, major in Agricultural Economics, Don Severino Agricultural College, Indang, Cavite, April 1994. Adviser: Dr. Nelia C. Cresino. study was to assess the general objective of the pineapple production in Upland Cavite.
Specifically, the study characteristics upland were sampling. aimed tenure income. ABSTRACT to status, of application a.} the describe technologies used by pineapple farmers; c) assess the economic viability of producing pineapple using the different technologies; and d) determine the problems encountered in the use of technology. The study was conducted in some selected towns of Cavite, namely: Silang, Tagaytay, and pineapple is commonly grown. One-hundred twenty respondents interviewed and selected through farmers; the b) socio-economic vi determine the socio-economic characteristics of the include: age, educational attainment, number of dependents, the farming experience, size of the Indang where simple random farmers The technologies practiced by pineapple growers included: land preparation, planting, cultivation/weeding, flower of fertilizer, application of multiple cropping and harvesting. farm and inducer.

Seventy percent of the respondents were high adopters, low adopters. while thirty percent were considered adopters practiced land preparation, planting, weeding, application of fertilizer and harvesting. The value of production per farm by low adopters amounted to P69,300.00. This was lower than the value of production of high adopters at P102, 785.33. High adopters incurred an average cost of P39,350.00 while the low adopters incurred costs amounting to P28, 100.53. High adopters generally obtained a higher net income of P61,335.33 compared to low adopters with a net income of P39,699.47. Likewise, the value of production per hectare by low adopters amounting to P36,386.72 was lower than for high per adopters amounting to P58,070.80. On the other hand, the average pineapple production farm for low and high adopters was not different from the average production per hectare for low and high adopters of technology. Low adopters of technology had lower volume of production than for high adopters of technology. Results of the regression analysis revealed technology is very small positively correlated to production and income at significance. The coefficient of determination of 0.19 implies that 19 percent variation in the level of production from pineapple was explained by the variation of the number of technologies used.
|
