RODRIN, LIEZL COSTA. Employment and Income of Women in Selected Towns of Lowland Cavite B.S. Thesis, Bachelor of Science in Business Management, major in Economics. Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite, April 1998. Adviser: Dr. Nelia C. Cresino.<br/>The study was conducted in five selected towns of lowland Cavite, namely: Dasmarifias, Gen. Trias, Naic, Tanza and Ternate. This aimed to describe the socioeconomic characteristics of women; determine the employment status and income of women; determine the relationship between socio-economic characteristics and employment status of women, ascertain the relationship between socio-economic characteristics and income of women; and identity the problems encountered by women with regard to their employment. A total of 100 respondents were interviewed to gather the needed information.<br/>The average age of the respondents was 35 years. Fifty-two percent were married, six percent were widow and only four percent were separated. The household size ranged from one to 12 with an average of five. Most of the respondents were holders of bachelor’s degree while others were still pursuing their master's degrees. The monthly income of the respondents ranged from P2,000 to P20,000 with an average ofP7,940.15.<br/>Almost 33 percent of the respondents were employed in private agencies. Others were self-employed and engaged in agricultural and sales works. Majority of the respondents were engaged in professional works and only three percent were engaged in agricultural works. % were 92 percent holders of permanent appointments and four percent each were holders of contractual and temporary appointment’s. In general, the income of die respondents is just appropriate to their work assignment.<br/>Types of employment was found to be significantly related with all the selected socio-economic variables while nature of appointment was found to be not related with all the selected socio-economic variables. It was also found that nature of work was significantly related will selected socio-economic variables such as age and educational attainment.<br/>Among the selected socio-economic characteristics, age and educational attainment were found to be significantly related with income.<br/>The findings revealed that the most common problem encountered by women in their job was low salary.<br/> |
