Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. June 2018. Adviser: Larry E. Rocela. <br/>Paper is a commodity to humanity due to it's never ending uses. But the higher the demand of it, the more paper are just to put to waste instead of being recycled. That's why the researchers comes up with the study "Utilization of Shredded Recycled Paper as a Supplementary Material in making Cement Bonded Particle Board". This research aims to develop cement bonded particle board using recycled paper. This study aims to produce cheaper cement bonded board compare to the commercial ones. The researchers made sample cement bonded board with cement — paper ratio: 1:1, 2:1, 3:1. The samples were made by mixing paper with water to obtain certain consistency and then were mixed with cement. The cement- shredded recycled paper mixtures were poured to the wooden mold to create 150 x 75 x 25 mm (6 x 3 x 1 inches) board samples, and 25 x 25 x 25 mm (2 x 2 x 2 inches) cubic samples. Board samples underwent curing for 7, 14 and 28 days. After the curing process, board samples underwent testing regarding its density, flexural strength and holding capacity of screw and nail, while the cube samples underwent compressive strength test. After the sample underwent different testing, data gathered were recorded and tabulated. <br/>Based on the experiment, the researcher observed that the amount of cement or the ratio of cement to paper and the curing time affects the strength of the samples produced. The higher the ratio the higher the amount of cement birder used for the board results to higher flexural strength and holding capacity of screws and nails. It cannot be concluded in terms of compressive strength due to the varying results in every treatment. The finish product of the study can be used as flooring material and partition walls.<br/> |
