David. <br/>The study was conducted to present and discuss the financial performance of the small and medium non — food manufacturing enterprises under small enterprise technology upgrading program in Region IV — A; Specifically it aimed to (1) present the company profile and financial profile 20 small and medium enterprise; (2) determine the problems encountered of the non-food manufacturing before acquiring Small Enterprise Technology Upgrading Program; (3) determine the complete details in Technology Needs Assessment when applying for Small Enterprise Technology Upgrading Program; (4) identify the initial financial performance of small and medium non-food manufacturing companies under Small Enterprise Technology Upgrading Program in Region 1V-A and, (5) determine the possible effects of Small Enterprise Technology Upgrading Program in the financial performance of non-food manufacturing companies in Region 1V-A. Secondary data of the companies that applied for Small Enterprise Technology Upgrading Program from the fiscal year July 2016 to July 2017with initial financial performance from 2013 to 2015 were used in the analysis of the study. Data were gathered from Department of Science and Technology Regional Office in Los Banos, Laguna and from Securities and Exchange Commission. The data were analyzed using descriptive and causal explanatory research.<br/>Based on the analysis, majority or 90 percent of the small and medium non food manufacturing enterprise were classified as small enterprises and 10 percent as medium enterprises. As small and medium non — food manufacturing enterprise, they offered up to five types of products and services such as metals and engineering, electronics, handicrafts and furniture, plastics, and agriculture. More than half or 60 percent was engaged in metals and engineering. One of the requirements to apply for Technology Upgrading Program is the Technology Assessment Needs (TNA) form that composes of complete details about the company. It is the basis if the company will approve or not. The researchers found out four major problems encountered by the small and medium non food manufacturing companies such as high cost of production, time and process of production, quality of product, and facility where the production takes place. All or 100 percent of the small and medium non food manufacturing companies have problem with the time and process of production. Financial performance was analyzed by the use of some measurements in terms of Debt Ratios and Profitability Ratios. In measuring the profitability ratio, Gross Profit Margin, Operating Profit Margin, Net Profit Margin, and Return on Investment were used.<br/> |
