Undergraduate Thesis, Bachelor of Science in Business Management, major in Economics. Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite, March 2000. Adviser: Dr. Antonio G. Papa. <br/>The study was conducted in selected barangays of Indang, Cavite to determine the socio-economic characteristics of boarding house owners and their family income and expenditures, and ascertain the relationship between selected socioeconomic characteristics and income and expenditures. A total of fifty boarding house owners from Barangays Uno, Dos, Tres, Cuatro, Bancod, Buna Cerca and Kaytapos were interviewed for the study. <br/>Most of the respondents were female, married and with an average age of 54 years old and most of them were married and female. And majority of the respondents had been operating boarding houses for an average of four years and considered this as supplementary sources of income. The average household size of the respondents was five (5) members and with two (2) dependents, on the average. Majority of the respondents had an average capital of P117, 560.from their personal savings.<br/> The average monthly income of the boarding house owners was P3, 295.80 and the total monthly income of the boarding house owners’ families was P23, 178.80. Most of the boarding house owners shared three (3) to 27 percent to the total family income. Fifty two percent of the husbands were considered as the major income earners of the family. While business was the major source of income reported by 23 respondents followed by 18 percent were employed. <br/>The total monthly expenditures of the respondents families was P556,18 on the operations of boarding houses respondents had a total monthly expenses while P7,280.00 which composed of water and electricity bills of the boarders. Food was the first priority of the respondents comprising 34 percent of their total monthly expenditures followed by education with 23 percent. <br/>The findings also revealed that among some selected variables, educational attainment and civil status were found significantly related to the level of income of boarding house owner's families. And also other variables such as number of room, rate per person and number of occupants were found significantly related to income. And family income was significantly related to their expenditures.<br/>
