This study was conducted to determine the factors associated with the technology acceptance of crop farmers in Indang, Cavite. In order to obtain the desired information, personal interview with 60 farmer-respondents were conducted, using the prepared interview guide.<br/><br/>Majority of the farmers had age ranging from 41 to 60 years, had completed elementary and highschool education, had average number of dependents of 4 to 6; had farming experience ranging from 1 to 20 years, had small income (P10,000 and below).<br/><br/>Less than two-thirds or 63 percent of the farmer-respondents were sometimes visited by change agents and 60 percent of them said that Seminar on Farming were sometimes held.<br/><br/>Most of the farmers or 83 percent of them accepted technology at a "moderate" degree.<br/><br/>The chi-square test revealed the relationships between the independent variables and technology acceptance. The variables which were found to have significant relationships with technology acceptance were: educational attainment, number of dependents, income, and frequency of visits of change agents to farmers. Lack of capital and knowledge on technology failed them to adopt some recommended technology. The farmers reported that they usually solved this problem by securing loans and credits from some private persons/institutions, with or without interest and asked the help of government technicians for their problems on technology.<br/><br/> |
