BAGO, MARIVIC F. Agricultural Science Department, Don Severino Agricultural College, Indang, Cavite, March 1990. A COMPARATIVE STUDY OF IPIL-IPIL LEAVES AND RICE BRAN AS FEED SUPPLEMENT ON THE GROWTH OF TILAPIA NILOTICA (Qreochromis niloticus). Adviser: Mr, Erafio C, Esguerra

The experiment was conducted to identify which feed supplement, ipil-ipil leaves or rice bran is best suited for the growth of tilapia and to compare their effects on the growth of the fish.

This study had four treatments which were arranged in a Completely Randomized Design (CRD). ‘The treatments were replicated three times with 25 fingerlings per replication. The treatments were: To control, qT, - tilapia fed with ipil-ipil leaves, T, - tilapia fed with rice bran and T, - tilapia fed with the combination of ipil-ipil heaves and rice bran.

This study revealed that rice bran (T,) as feed supplement gave the best result as exhibited by the highest gain in weight, daily gain in weight, average length and total increase in length of the fish compare to other treatments. A 17% mortality oceur€a during the conduct of the experiment because they were affected by heavy rains.
|
