Agdalpen, MA <br/>This study sought to explore the lived experiences of grandmothers serving as primary caregivers to their grandchild/grandchildren. Specifically, it aimed to: determine the factors that made grandmothers the primary caregivers of their grandchild/grandchildren; explore the experiences of grandmothers in raising their grandchild/grandchildren; recognize the problems encountered by the grandmothers in raising their grandchild/grandchildren; identify the meaning of motherhood from the view point of grandmothers, considering that they are raising grandchild/grandchildren. The study utilized the phenomenological research design involving eight grandmothers from selected areas of Cavite. Interview was used in the study to determine the lived experiences of grandmothers raising their grandchild/grandchildren. This was done with the use of a semi-structured interview guide, validated by experts. Based on the data gathered by the researchers, there were various factors that made the grandmothers to be the primary caregiver of their grandchildren. One of these was unemployment, parental separation, parents working abroad, and teenage pregnancy. It was evidently seen that grandmothers tend to indulge their grandchildren by means of understanding, love and care, and even material things. They always prioritized their grandchildren more than their own offspring. They were challenged when raising their grandchildren, for they felt they were under pressure. They thought that the society may understanding love and care, and even material things. They always prioritized their grandchildren more than their own offspring. They were challenged when raising their grandchildren, for they felt they were under pressure. They thought that the society may judge the way they raised their grandchildren.
