Bachelor of Science in Business Management, major in Operations Management. Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. June 2019. Adviser: Engr. Gilberto S. David. <br/>The study was conducted to determine how the market administrators and market vendors practice the waste management in their public market. Specifically, the study was conducted to determine the socio- demographic profile of the market administrator and market vendor, determine the profile of the public market, determine the types of waste generated by the public market, describe the waste management practices and ordinances involved in implementing waste management and determine the problems encountered in the implementation of waste management in public market. <br/>The study was conducted in three selected municipality and cities of Cavite namely: Imus, Dasmarinas and Silang from August 2018 to May 2019. Purposive sampling was used to determine the participants. The study had two participants which were the market administrator and market vendor, it used the Slovin's formula to determine the number of participants from each selected areas of Cavite. A total of 187 participants of market vendors and three participants of market administrators were selected from the three different areas of Cavite. The findings of the study revealed that majority of the participants operate their business seven days in a week. It was also revealed that majority of waste generated daily in the public market was solid waste. It was found out that both market vendors and market administrators practiced the waste management in public market. Based from the result, the authors highly recommend that every public market should have a waste water treatment facility to avoid contaminated water before disposing it in the river, and the water treatment from the public market can be re-use to clean the stalls. Also, the author highly recommends to the public market administration to strengthen the existing the law or ordinance regarding to waste management practices to discipline the vendor, suppliers, and buyers. <br/> |
