AMPARO HEIDI ISABEL B. Backyard Hog Fattening: An Entrepreneurial Development Project. Entrepreneurial Development Project Report. Bachelor in Agricultural Entrepreneurship Major in Animal Production. Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. June 2019. Adviser: Dr. Magdalena N. Alcantara. <br/>The project was conducted at Barangay Maymangga Amadeo, Cavite from December 21, 2018 to March 29, 2019. The project aimed to expose student to experience actual hog raising. Specifically, the project aimed to: (1) enhance the knowledge and skills in swine production; (2) determine the profitability of backyard swine raising; (3) and gain profit from the production. The project had four piglets that were purchased from Barangay Maymangga, Amadeo, Cavite. <br/>They had an average initial weight of 19 kg. The feeds were sourced from Uno Feeds Robina agripartner. The animals were fed thrice during starter phase and twice during the grower phase until marketing. During the entire fattening period, the hogs were given proper care and management. After 99 days of rearing, the hogs weighed an average final weight of 99.75 kg and consumed an average of 200 kg of feeds. The average gain in weight was 80.75 kg giving an average daily gain of 815.66 g.<br/> The feed conversion efficiency was 2.48. The project had a total production cost of P 40,928.2. Hogs were marketed at Indang Public Market at P 150 per kilogram dressed weight. The total sales was P 48,010 resulting to a net income of P 7,081.8. The project had 17.31 percent return on investment (ROT).<br/> |
