DACIO, ROGER GENESIS B. AND POLI DARIO, AARON PAUL C. Development of
Arduino — Based Digital Effects Guitar Pedal. Undergraduate Design Project. Bachelor of
Science in Electronics and Communications Engineering. Cavite State University, Indang,
Cavite. June 2019. Adviser: Engr. Michael T. Costa.
The study was conducted to develop an Arduino — based digital effects guitar pedal.
Specifically, it aimed to construct the control circuit of the system, fabricate the guitar pedal,
develop the systems software and program using Arduino, test and evaluate the performance of
the system, and conduct cost comoutation of the project. By changing the analog signal through
a circuit, it will provide easy manipulation of different kinds of effects.
The device has four (4) guitar effects, namely; distortion, overdrive, wah, and reverb.
Each effects circuits are powered by separate power supply. Arduino UNO and relay was used
as the main control system of the device. Wall and reverb are connected to the relay which is
also connected to the Arduino Uno, to control what effect will be used. Distortion and overdrive
are used separately and can be combined to the other two (2) effects. These effects are
controlled by the user via a pushbutton. The design project is composed of Arduino UNO
Microcontroller , a 4 — channeled relay, the four (4) guitar effects (distortion, overdrive, wah,
and reverb), power supplies, jacks, wires and cables, and wood which serves as the enclosure
of the device. The design pro.ject was evaluated for its user acceptability and tested technically.
The device was technically tested by the use of oscilloscope, showing the changes in the input
signal waveform after using the effects.
The evaluation was conducted at various places in Indang and Trece Martires in Cavite.
The respondents answer an evaluation form regarding on the device's sound quality,
convenience, appearance, and ranking compared to the existing pedals. According to the data
gathered, the Arduino — based digital effects guitar pedal has met the desired objectives. The
device was proven to be successful based on the gathered data from the evaluation form and
from the technical evaluation. The device was proved to be better than the existing digital pedal
and on par on the existing analog pedal. The total cost of the project was P5843.00. |
