Backyard Hog Fattening in Barangay Bancod, Indang, Cavite: An Entrepreneurial Development Project: Bachelor of Agricultural Entrepreneurship Major in Animal Production, College of Agriculture, Food, Environment and Natural Resources, Cavite State University, Indang Cavite, May 2018. Adviser. Dr. Cristina F. Olo <br/>The swine production project was conducted at Purok III Brgy. Bancod, Indang, Cavite from December 21, 2017 to April 5, 2018. The student entrepreneur gained knowledge and experience on actual hog raising, performed proper management practices in backyard hog fattening; and earned profit from the project. The four fattening hogs with an average initial body weight of 17 kg were purchased at Silang, Cavite. They were fed three times a day and underwent restricted feeding. The feeds that were used in the project were purchased from Caffmaco. <br/>They were given four bags of starter pellet and seventeen bags of grower pellet. The animals were given dewormer (Ivermectin) and vitamin B-complex. After 105 days of rearing the average final weight of the four hogs was 98.63 kg. The average feed consumed was 262.5 kg with an average daily gain (ADG) of 777.43 g per day. The average gain in weight was 81.63 kg and the feed conversion efficiency (FCE) was 3.2 The total sales from the four fattened hogs was P48,918.00 at the price of P124.00 per kg and the total production cost was P43,338.65 giving a net income of P5,579.35. The return on investment (ROI) was 12.87%.<br/> |
