Summary, etc. KARL ANGELO M. DE LARA, ARR-JAY F. PEJE AND JOHN EDWARD MAGSAKAY.
Attitude of High School Students in Cavite State University Science High School Towards
Sports and other Physical Activities Participation. Undergraduate Thesis. Bachelor of
Sport and Recreational Management. Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. June 2018
Adviser: Jazmin P. Cubillo
The study was conducted to determine the attitude towards sports of high school
students in Cavite State University Science High School. Specifically, the study aimed to identify
the demographic characteristics of the respondents in terms of age, sex and year level;
determine the attitude of high school students towards sports and other physical activities
participation; and ascertain if the attitude of high school students significantly related to age, sex
and year level. The average age of the respondents was 14-15 years. Of the total respondents,
46.46 are male while 54.44 percent are female. Further, most of the respondents are from
Grade 8 and 10 which got 17.99 percent. On the other hand, when grouped according to
demographic profile, study revealed that there is no significant relationship in terms of the
respondents' day engagement in sports and other physical activity when grouped according to
age. The proportions in each age-group who exercises several times a week are 50% of those
aged 16-24.
Thus, since high school students are in the peak of their strength and in the range of 16-
24 years old, then age does not seem to affect the number of days they engaged in sports and
other physical activities. However, a significant relationship was found on the respondents' day
engagement in sports and other physical activity when grouped according to grade level and a
highly significant relationship was found when grouped according to sex. There is no significant
relationship on the length of time the respondents spent in sports out of school was found when
grouped according to age and grade level while there is a significant relationship when grouped
according to sex. Also, there is no significant relationship in the place where sports and other
physical activity was mostly spent by the respondents out of school when grouped according to
age and grade level while a highly significant relationship existed when grouped according to
sex.
Meanwhile, study also revealed that there is no significant relationship in the main
reason of respondents for not engaging in sports and other physical activities out of school
when grouped according age and sex but a significant relationship was revealed when grouped
according to grade level In terms of the days that the respondents were engaged in sports and
other physical activity in school campus, study demonstrates that there was no significant
relationship found when grouped according to sex while a highly significant difference was
established when grouped according to age and grade level. No significant relationship was
also found in the main reasons of respondents for not engaging in sports and other physical
activity in school campus when grouped according to sex but a significant relationship has been
shown when grouped according to age while a highly significant relationship was found when
grouped according to grade level.
