Summary, etc. |
MOJICA, JAN PIOLO L., SAN AGUSTIN, DHELVIN P., VICEDO, JULIUS ANDREW R.
Efficacy of an Alternative Natural Stain Remover Made from Pomelo (Citrus maxima)
Extract, Vinegar, and Salt on Rust Stain Capstone Project (STEM Strand, K-12
Curriculum). Senior High School, College of Education, Cavite State University, Indang,
Cavite. May 2019. Adviser: Mr. Oliver P. Matunog
This study was conducted from January to May 2019 among 30 housewives from Indang,
Cavite to formulate a rust stain remover from the different treatments of pomelo extract, white
vinegar, and salt and test its effectiveness with rust stain on white fabric. Specifically, this study
aimed to: 1. determine the ability and effectiveness of pomelo extract to remove rust stain from
white cotton fabric; 2. determine which among the three treatments is the most effective in
removing rust stain on white cotton fabric; 3. determine the consumer's sensory evaluation and;
4. determine the consumer's level of acceptability/satisfaction, and its potential for marketing.
This study employed experimental research design because the study needed a scientific
approach to be conducted, wherein a set of variables are kept constant while the other set of
variables are being measured as the subject of experiment. Mier conducting the study, the
researchers have formulated a rust stain remover from the different treatments of pomelo
extract, white vinegar, and salt. It showed that the treatment that has the highest amount of
pomelo extract appears to be the most effective in all the treatments. It appears that the smell of
vinegar caused the sour odor of the rust stain remover and the number of pomelo extract mixed
in each treatment affected its ability to remove rust stain from white cotton fabric
Based on the results of the study the following recommendations were made to include
the pomelo peels in extraction process so that the acidity level of the produced stain remover
will increase thus, making it more effective; test the chemical properties of the product to further
improve or increase its shelf life; further study should be conducted in order to test its capability
to remove different kind of stain like ink, food oil, etc. and; have a larger population so that the
data to be gathered will be more accurate. |
