520 3# - SUMMARY, ETC.
Summary, etc. The experiment was conducted to find out the effects of topping and population density on yield of ViSCA sweet potato number two (VSP-2). Both the topped and untopped plants showed no significant differences at varying population density in terms of number of market-able cormels per plant. However, significant results were observed on the length, diameter and weight of tubers from varying population density.

As VSP-2 increases its population density from 40,000 to 200,000 plants per hectare, there is a corresponding increase in yield but the tuber length and diameter obtained from the sample plants gradually decreases.

The result could be attributed to competition between plants for light, nutrients, space and moisture.
